newb question

Hi I have a few questions

1,
Ive been trying to make a program where you type into textbox a distance for example and it stores that distance as a value in text file
so when the app restarts it knows of that stored value so when u type in
another value it adds that value to the last value and displays the total in label1 after a given amount of time ?

2,
Also how do you make the app stamp a date with the last entry to that textfile so that it displays the last entry ammount added to the textfile with the date next to it ?

I know how to make the app read from text file but dunno how to read as a number and then process like value of line 1 + value of line 2?




Any ideas ?
